服務器系統故障的遠程調試方法

摘 要: 研究利用一種通過服務器的基板管理控制器(baseboard management controller,BMC)系統和平臺環境式控制接口(platform environment control interface,PECI),在不影響服務器本身系統資源且不破壞其運用環境的基礎上,實現不需要額外的外部專業系統硬件或軟件調試工具,只需要通過服務器帶外的網絡連接BMC系統,即可遠程獲取服務器出現故障時的系統處理器和系統平臺控制單元(platform controller hub,PCH)芯片組的內部芯片級寄存器以及相關服務器系統內關鍵設備或部件的數據或狀態信息。通過這些專業的數據信息,服務器系統管理人員就能夠快速分析出服務器出現故障的真正故障點,對服務器的維護或維修做出快速且準確的判斷或指令。該設計有效加快了服務器系統的維護速度,降低了服務器的運行維護成本,提高了服務器的運行性能和效率。

Abstract: This paper utilizes server baseboard management controller (BMC) system and platform environment control interface (PECI) to remotely achieve data and status information of system processor, platform controller hub (PCH) chipset internal chip level register and key devices or components within related server system when the sever appears failure through server out-of-band network connection with BMC system without additional professional system hardware or software debugging tools under no influence on severs’ own system resource and application environment. The server system administrators could quickly analyze the server failure, find out the root cause, and give the accurate maintenance judgment and actions through the professional data and information. This design effectively promotes the maintenance rate of server system, decreases the operational maintenance cost of server, and improves the operation performance and efficiency.
